Closure and Reclamation

I have contributed to several reclamation and closure projects, most prominently for the oil and gas industry in central and northern Alberta, while in the services of another consulting firm. My roles included senior environmental support towards vegetation establishment strategies and vegetation monitoring, client liaison, and reporting. Reclamation and closure projects include the following:

  • Wetland assessment and reclamation plan for Pengrowth Energy Corporation for six well pads in Hay-Zama Wildland Park near Zama City, AB, Canada (2013-ongoing);
  • Reclamation and closure of East In-Pit for Syncrude Canada Ltd. north of Fort McMurray, AB, Canada (2012-ongoing);
  • Reclamation and Closure of Coke Cell 5 and design of a littoral zone in Base Mine Lake for Syncrude Canada Ltd. north of Fort McMurray, AB, Canada (2011-2015);
  • Vegetation reclamation strategy for Devon Canada at two sites north of Fort McMurray, AB, Canada (2014);
  • Vegetation and wetland reclamation for BP for a well pad in the Rocky Mountains northeast of Mount Pattullo, B.C. (2014);
  • Vegetation assessments for Shell Canada Ltd. at two reclaimed well pad sites near Leduc and Alexis, AB, Canada (2014);
  • Gap analysis for a landfill reclamation for BFI Canada east of Calgary, AB, Canada (2013);
  • Well pad reclamation strategy for Shell Canada Ltd. near Burnt Timber, AB, Canada (2013);
  • Vegetation monitoring program and reclamation for BP at two spill locations near Zama City, AB, Canada (2012-2014).
